EAST SIDE DART LEAGUE
Rules and Regulations

SECTION I :     NAME

Article 1: The name of this organization shall be East Side Dart League.

 

SECTION II :     DEFINITIONS

Article 1: Whenever the initials E.S.D.L. are used in these by-laws they shall mean East Side Dart League.

Article 2: Whenever the word Board is used, it shall mean the elected officials described in Sect. VI, Art. 1.

Article 3: Whenever the term Senior Board Member is used, it shall mean the most senior board member present in terms of continuous service.

Article 4: Whenever the word Member is used, it shall mean a person, an entire body of an organization or group which has obtained membership in the E.S.D.L.

Article 5: Whenever the term Associate Member is used, it shall mean a person group or organization that has obtained membership in the E.S.D.L. that do not participate in regular scheduled league play.

 

SECTION III :     OBJECTIVES

Article 1: The objectives of the E.S.D.L. are as follows;

a. To promote competitive darts and good sportsmanship for social and recreational purposes.

b. To help coordinate and support the activities tournaments, and functions of affiliated associations, leagues, dart clubs, and other similar groups.

c. To sanction league play according to rules in effect.

d. To assist sponsors of E.S.D.L. sanctioned local, area, and/or national darting tournament competitions.

e. To improve and establish conditions of play in local establishments and throughout the East Columbus area.

Article 2: The E.S.D.L. shall be a non-profit, non- political, and non-sectarian organization.

 

SECTION IV :     FEES

Article 1: Membership fees shall be established and may be revised by a two-thirds(2/3) majority vote of the Quorum and shall be payable seasonally.

Article 2: Membership fees shall be applicable to the period established by E.S.D.L. Board of Directors. An applicant shall be considered to be properly registered when his application and appropriate fee has been received by the official representative of E.S.D.L.

 

SECTION V :     MEMBERSHIP

Article l: Membership is open to anyone who evidences interest in darts as a sport, is of legal drinking age, and has not been permanently expelled from E.S.D.L.

Article 2: A membership may be terminated or restricted by a 2/3 majority vote of the full board if such a member creates disharmony or behaves in a manner prejudicial to order and discipline (ie: fighting).

Article 3: A non-voting honorary membership may be issued at the discretion of the majority of the full board.

 

SECTION VI :     THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Article 1: The Executive Board shall be comprised of the followings President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Statistician, and six(6) board members. Any member in good standing with the E.S.D.L. may run for any office except President. To run for President they must served one(1) year as a member of the Executive Board.

Article 2: The Executive Board shall be elected for a period of one(1) year and shall assume office no later than one(1) week after being duly elected.

Article 3: Executive Board vacancies shall be filled by the Presidents subject to the approval of a majority affirmative vote of the Executive Board.

Article 4: In the event any name submitted does not receive a majority affirmative vote, that name shall be withdrawn and another name submitted.

 

SECTION VII :     BOARD DUTIES/QUORUM

Article l: If, at any meeting of the board, there is less than a quorum present, the majority of members present may adjourn the meeting. Any business which must have been transacted at the meeting can be re-scheduled.

 

SECTION VIII :     RECALL OF BOARD MEMBERS

Article 1: Any board member may be recalled from office by a 2/3 majority vote of the entire board at any board meeting or general meeting. The board may also effect this section by mail if circumstances so warrant.

Article 2: A recall may also be in effect if the Secretary shall receive (via-registered mail) a petition with two-thirds(2/3) of the membership signatures attached.

Article 3: Any board member has the right to appeal such recall action, Such appeals must be in writing and received by the Secretary (via registered mail) no later than thirty (30) days from the board's recall ruling. There can be no further appeal.

Article 4: Recall voting shall be accomplished by secret ballot.

Article 5: Should recall take place at a board meeting or general meeting, it shall be immediately followed by an election by the board members present at such meeting to fill the board members position or vacancies. If the President is recalled, the office shall be assumed by the Vice President after which a new Vice President shall be elected. After the new Vice President has been elected, he or she shall commence making the proper arrangement to fill his or her former board position.

Article 6: Should the President be recalled and appeal his or her case, his or her duties shall be assumed by the Vice President from the date of petition until final determination is made by the board. In the absence of the Vice Presidents his or her duties shall be assumed by the Senior Board Member.

Article 7: Any board member who is recalled will not be eligible for office for a period of two(2) years from the date of recall.

Article 8: The board is the highest E.S.D.L. authority regarding recall proceedings. Board decisions in such matters shall require two thirds(2/3) vote of the entire board.

 

SECTION IX :     CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS

Article 1: The board shall have the sole authority to enter into contracts and agreements in the name of the E.S.D.L. Such contracts and agreements must bear the signature of the President in order to make such contracts or agreements binding upon the E.S.D.L.

 

SECTION X :     EXPENSES

Article l: Any member, under the direction of the boards is to be reimbursed for all legitimate expenses incurred in the name of E.S.D.L.

Article 2: All expenses are subject to the approval of the simple majority vote of the board members in attendance at the board meeting or election meeting at which these expenses are presented. The board may also effect this section by mail, if circumstances so warrant.

 

SECTION XI :     POLICY

Article 1: Policy changes and temporary rulings. as approved by a simple majority vote of the board members# and general information, will be in the form of announcements issued by the E.S.D.L. Secretary. These announcements regarding policy changes and temporary rulings will be considered to be in force immediately upon receipt by all board members, individual member and associate members.

Article 2: It is the responsibility of each board member, individual member, members, and associate members to read any announcements issued by the E.S.D.L. Secretary.

Article 3: It is the responsibility of each team captain to relay the information contained in the aforementioned announcements to the team members he represents.

Article 4: All Past Presidents of the Board of Directors will receive lifetime memberships to the E.S.D.L. as appreciation for serving his/her full term as President.

Article 5: All past Board Members that have served five(5) years on the Board of Directors will receive lifetime memberships to the E.S.D.L. in appreciation for serving the league.

Article 6: The Statistician shall be paid 10% of the individual season fees per paid team member for each season to produce and maintain standing sheets for the league.

Article 7: No other Board member shall receive a salary for serving on the board.

 

SECTION XII :     SPONSORSHIP OF A DARTING EVENT

Article 1: In the interest of promoting darts, the E.S.D.L. Board will from time to time, Sponsor darting events other than its normal schedule of matches and leagues.

Sponsoring an event means:

  1. The E.S.D.L. is responsible for all operations of the event.
  2. The E.S.D.L. will do all promotion of the event. All promotion should carry the line "Sponsored by E.S.D.L." or similar in theme.
  3. E.S.D.L. general rules for play will prevail, with such  modifications as are necessary for the particular event. All rules and regulations will be determined by the E.S.D.L.
  4. E.S.D.L. will provide and guarantee all prizes and/or awards and trophies.

 

RULE #1 - MEMBERSHIP, REGISTRATION, SPORTSMANSHIP

SECTION I MEMBERSHIP

Article l: Any person of legal drinking age or older, not previously expelled, shall be eligible to play in the East Side Dart League.

Article 2: Annual individual membership fees beginning at the start of the Fall season as established by the E.S.D.L. board of directors is required. The fees will be prorated per season.

Article 3: It shall be the responsibility of each member to have his/her membership card at each match. This card should be shown if and when their eligibility is challenged by an opposing team captain.

Article 4: Failure of a player to show proof of membership could result in forfeiture of points.

Article 5: If any person, for any reason, is barred from an E. S. D. L. bar, that person is also barred from E.S.D.L. participation, unless determined otherwise by the board.

Article 6: Any person previously expelled from E.S.D.L. must be approved by a 2/3 vote of the E.S.D.L. board to determine eligibility for league membership.

 

SECTION II REGISTRATION

Article l: Only registered players and guests approved by the board may participate in E.S.D.L. sponsored activities.

 

SECTION III SPORTSMANSHIP

Article 1: Good Sportsmanship shall be the prevailing attitude during all E.S.D.L. sponsored activities.

Article 2: Attempts to distract an opponent while he/she is throwing, will not be tolerated. Complaints may result in the league directors taking disciplinary action.

Article 3: When an infraction of the E.S.D.L. rules has been committed, it is the responsibility of the team captains, in the interest of good sportsmanship, to resolve the infraction at the time it happened, or when it is first noticed. If no agreement can be reached at that time, a protest or counter protest is to be initiated at that time and will have no effect on the remainder of the match.

Article 4: It is not considered poor sportsmanship for a captain to protest a direct violation of any rule herein.

 

RULE #2- EQUIPMENT

SECTION I THE DART BOARD

Article 1: All league competition, including tournaments and playoffs shall be conducted on a standard English bristle, 20 point, clock-faced dart board.

Article 2: The dart board wire spider must not be broken and the double and triple rings must be within a tolerance of 1/32" of the normal space measurement of 3/8".

Article 3: An acceptable dart board must be secured to the wall so that the distance from the center of the board to the floor measures 5.8" plus or minus 1/4".

Article 4: The scoring wedge indicated by the number 20, shall be darkest of the two wedge colors, and must be the top center wedge.

Article 5: The dart board must be positioned so that it is readily available to the players without distraction to the thrower.

 

SECTION II LIGHTING

Article I: The lights must be positioned in such a way so as to brightly illuminate the dart board, reduce to a minimum the shadow cast by the darts, and not physically impede the flight of the darts.

 

SECTION III SCORING SURFACE

Article 1: A scoring surface must be provided and located in such a manner that the score may be easily read by players and spectators.

 

SECTION IV THE HOCKEY LINE

Article 1: The hockey line is a strip on the floor at least (1) one inch wide and no less than (3) three feet long, running parallel to the scoring surface of the dart board, and centered with the dart board. From the front edge of the dart board, to the front edge of the strip, the distance shall be no less than 7'9¼".

Article 2: It shall be the responsibility of the team captains to determine the hockey line prior to the beginning of the competition.

Article 3: The length of the hockey line is not limited to (3) three feet as long as it does not interfere with another thrower and is not in front of the 7'9¼", such as in a curved location, either direction.

 

SECTION V CONDITION

Article 1: All comments concerning equipment of/at a particular establishment shall be noted on the score sheet in the comment section, or brought to the attention of the E.S.D.L. board.

 

SECTION VI OUT CHART

Article 1: All establishment must provide at least 1 highly visible out chart showing the recommended 2 and 3 dart out shots for "01" games. This chart must detail every possible shot from 170 through at least 60.

 

RULE #3 - THE TEAM, PLAYER STATUS, NEW PLAYERS

SECTION I THE TEAM

Article 1: During any season a team shall consist of a minimum of four (4) registered team members and a maximum of six (6) registered team members, except in a doubles league, wherein a team shall consist of two (2) registered team members.

Article 2: A team roster (name, address, phone number of each player) must be in the office of the E.S.D.L. by 3 days after the end-of-season party at which they registered. All games with non-registered players may be forfeited.

Article 3: A registration fee as determined by the E.S.D.L. directors shall be required for each season and must be paid by the deadline date specified in the registration information for that season. No team will be accepted unless fees are received by registration deadline.

Article 4: Each team shall have one member who is designated captain. In the regular captains absence, one member shall be the acting captain.

Article 5: In a league of four person teams, three (3) registered team members shall be considered to be a legal but incomplete team. In a doubles league, one (1) registered team member shall be considered a legal but incomplete team.

Article 6: An incomplete team will forfeit the respective number of points for each game not played. One player may play against two in a doubles game but would have one turn to the opponents two. The same would apply to a four person team game where three players would throw three turns against their opponents four turns per round. Missing players would lose their turn.

Article 7: Each team must furnish a team name at the time of registration.

 

SECTION II PLAYER STATUS

Article 1: A player may register for any team in a league he / she wishes. As a registered member of a team, he/she becomes ineligible to play for any other team in that league and is considered locked in to that team for the remainder of that season.

Article 2: A player may register as a substitute if he/she wishes. As a substitute, he/she cannot play as a registered team member in the league in which he/she is substituting. Substitutes will not be considered as registered team members for award and trophy purposes for that league.

Article 3: A substitute may become a registered team member prior to the last three weeks of the season, by the captain so notifying the league registrar in writing.

Article 4: A registered team member may be dropped from a team roster by so notifying the league registrar in writing. Any registered team member who is dropped from a team may not register on any other team or play as a substitute for the remainder of the season, unless said member appeals to the Executive board and receives written permission.

Article 5: If there are two or more leagues in any one season, a player may register on a maximum of one team in each league.

 

SECTION III NEW PLAYERS

Article l: A new player (non-member) may play in a match. In order for any points scored by such player to count, her/his name, address, phone number, and in what capacity they would like to participate, (registered member or substitute) as well as membership dues must be received within one week. Fees can be accepted by any E.S.D.L. officer or board member. If fees are not received within one week, points scored by such player shall be awarded to the opposing team.

Article 2: New players may not be added to the roster of a team as a registered member, unless approved by the E.S.D.L. board, if such player joins the team during the last three scheduled matches of the season.

Article 3: A new player may not register and play as a substitute during the last three scheduled matches of the season.

Article 4: After the start of the season, it will be the responsibility of the team captain to submit in writing to the E.S.D.L. Board, the name(s) of the person(s) he/she wishes to add to his or her team for evaluation by the E.S.D.L. board. This must be done prior to that person being placed on a team. This article does not block the use of substitutes in any way.

Article 5: Fees can be paid only by check or money order. Your check or money order copy will act as your receipt.

 

RULE #4 - LINE-UPS, THE MATCH, USE OF SUBSTITUTES

SECTION I LINE-UPS

Article 1: Team captains (or acting captains) must meet prior to the start of the match to schedule players for each event. Singles, doubles and team games should be scheduled prior to each event. All events may, but do not have to be scheduled at one time. This should be decided by the captains prior to the start.

Article 2: Lineups must be made BLIND by each captain and they are not to be prearranged against certain opponents.

Article 3: Lineups cannot be changed after players have been scheduled.

Article 4: A captain with more than four members on his/her team may rotate players between events of the match.

Article 5: No player may be scheduled more than once in each event of the match.

 

SECTION II THE MATCH

Article 1: The match will start at a time designated by the E.S.D.L. board with a grace period of fifteen minutes for the start of the Team 801 game. Game must start after fifteen minute grace period has lapsed regardless of the number of players present unless it is to be a forfeit. No more than five minutes may elapse between games or events.

Article 2: The format for a match in league play shall be determined by the E.S.D.L. board prior to the start of the season.

Article 3: The scoring system for a match shall be determined by the E.S.D.L. board prior to the start of the season.

 

SECTION III USE OF SUBSTITUTES

Article l: One(1) substitute may be used in a match including doubles events.

Article 2: The use of a substitute must be indicated on the scorecard of the match in which a substitute is used. Failure to indicate the use of a substitute will result in the assessment of one penalty point by previous rule.

Article 3: Substitutes cannot play for a team if four registered team members are present at the start of the match.

Article 4: If a match begins using a substitute and a registered member arrives late, the team captain must decide if the substitute or registered member, but not both, will continue in the match, starting with the NEXT event.

Article 5: The use of substitutes will not be allowed in any season playoffs, except with the approval of the presiding Board member.

Article 6: Any points earned by use of an illegal substitute will be deducted from the team using the illegal substitute and awarded to the opposing team. The substitute must be paid in full by the time the score sheet reaches the designated drop-off point. A check may be attached to the score sheet when it is delivered.

Article 7: If there are two or more leagues in any one season, a player may substitute in any league in which that player is not registered on a team.

Article 8: During the last three scheduled matches of a season only registered substitutes are eligible to play.

Article 9: A person may only substitute down to 1 division lower than the last season in which they participated. A substitute may be used at any level higher than their last participating season.

Article l0: Each team can use substitutes only three times each season.

 

RULE #5 - THROWING CORK, BEGINNING A GAME

SECTION I THROWING THE CORK

Article 1: All games are begun with a toss of a coin to determine the option of throwing the cork first. The player who throws closest to the cork has the option of throwing first or not, when starting the game.

Article 2: Only players scheduled in that individual game may throw for corks

Article 3: The cork must be in the throwing area,

Article 4: A re-throw shall be called if the scorer cannot decide which dart is closest to the cork. Cork TIES cork. ie:: outer bull(25) ties outer bull- inner bull(50) ties inner bull.

Article 5: The second thrower, if he/she so desires, may acknowledge the first dart as a single or double bull and ask for that dart to be removed prior to throwing. If the first dart is removed and the second dart equals that of the first, a tie results, and a re-throw becomes necessary with the second darter throwing first.

Article 6: Should the scorer call for a re-throw at the cork, the opposite team shall re-throw first, with additional re-throws being on an alternating basis.

Article 7: The point of the dart must remain in the scoring area of the board in order to count. Additional throws may be made until the player's dart remains in the dart board. Should the second thrower dislodge the dart of the first thrower, a re-throw will be made with the second thrower now throwing first.

Article 8: Darts must not be touched prior to the decision of the scorer. Should the scorer or the thrower be in doubts then both captains shall add their opinions with the majority ruling.

Article 9: In multiple player events, the order in which players should throw shall be left to their captain or participating partner. The cork shooter need not be the one to throw first.

 

RULE #6 - GAME RULES

SECTION I "01" GAMES

Article 1: The objective is to begin with a certain number of points and reduce the score to zero. Games of "301" start with three hundred one (301) points. This number may be increased in any increment of 100 points for other "01" games. The first player or team to reduce their score to zero is the winner.

Article 2: To commence scoring, a player or team must land a dart in the outer (double) ring, except for a straight start. All subsequent darts shall be counted for score. Inner bull (50) is considered a double 25 for both starting and finishing a game.

Article 3: Each player shall take turns in throwing. Three darts in succession constitutes a turn.

Article 4: All darts thrown after "doubling" in, except for a straight start, shall be counted for score and subtracted from the starting point value.

Article 5: The game is finished when the player throws a dart that lands in a double that reduces the score to zero.

Article 6: No fast finishes such as "Three in a Bed", "Shanghai", etc. will be permitted,,

Article 7: A player BUSTS when his/her three darts (or less) score more points than remain in the games or if the three darts (or less) score the exact number of points remaining in the game but the last thrown dart does not land in the double ring, or if the three darts(or less) score one less point than remain in the game. When this occurs, the score remains as it was prior to that turn. The next scheduled player then takes his/her regular turn to throw.

 

SECTION II CRICKET

Article 1: The objective is to "own" certain numbers on the board and have the greatest number of points scored. - The player or team to do so first is the winner.

Article 2: Cricket is played using the numbers 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, and both inner and outer bulls(Cork).

Article 3: Each player shall take turns in throwing. Three darts in succession constitutes a turn.

Article 4: Once a player or team scores three darts in a number it is "owned" by that player or team. Once both players or teams have scored three darts in a given number, it is "closed" and no further scoring can be accomplished on that number by either player or team.

Article 5: When a number is "owned" by a player or team, each subsequent dart thrown in that number shall score the appropriate numerical value, if the number is not owned" by both players or teams, as it is then "closed". All numerical scores shall be added to the previous balance.

Article 6: Numbers can be "owned" or "closed" in any order desired by the individual player or team.

Article 7: For the purpose of owning a number, the double and triple ring shall count as two or three times the numerical values, respectively.

Article 8: After a number is owned by a team# the double and triple ring shall count as two or three times the numerical values, respectively.

Article 9: There shall be no ties. If both players or teams are even in numerical points, the winner shall be the first player or team to own or close all numbers.

 

RULE #7 - SCORING AND MARKING

SECTION I SCORING

Article l: The scorer for each game shall be a person acceptable to both captains. Should the choice of a scorer cause dissent, another shall be selected.

Article 2: If so requested, by the shooters the scorekeeper shall refrain from smoking or drinking while in the performance of is/her duties.

Article 3: For the dart to score, it must remain independently in the dart board for five(5) seconds after the third or final dart has been thrown by that player.

Article 4: Propelling a dart by mechanical or other such means is not allowed.

Article 5: In order to scores the point of the dart must be stuck in the bristle portion of the dart board.

Article 6: A dart's score shall be determined from the side of the wire at which the dart enters the dart board. In the case a dart lodges between the wires where they meet and it cannot be determined on which side of the wore the dart has entered the boards the higher score shall always be awarded.

Article 7: No dart may be touched by the thrower, another player, scorer, captain, or spectator, prior to the decision of the scorer. No dart may be removed from the dart board until the score is posted or the score and that turn is forfeited.

Article 8: Both feet must be behind the hockey line. This line must not be trodden or over-trodden before the dart contacts the dart board. If this rule is violated by a player advancing within the minimum distance (7'9¼ )o the opposing captain will warn the player and his captain. Further violations will result in the forfeiture of the score obtained from the dart(s) thrown.

Article 9: Any part of the board or wire spider must not be touched by the thrower, another player, scorer, captain or spectator, if at least one dart of a turn remains to be thrown.

 

SECTION II MARKING

Article l: It is the responsibility of each player to verify his/her score before removing any darts from the board. The score for that throw remains as written, if one or more darts have been removed from the dart board.

Article 2: The scorer may inform the thrower what is left or what has been scored. He/She may NOT inform the thrower what is left in terms of number combinations. It is permissible for a teammate or a spectator to advise the thrower during the course of a game.

Article 3: Errors in arithmetic must stand as written unless corrected prior to the start of that team's throw. This rule may be waived in the interest of good sportsmanship, provided both captains agree.

Article 4: If a player throws out of turn, that score shall be removed and the score shall be corrected. The scheduled player shall then throw. The out-of-turn player forfeits his/her next regular turn in the game. The opposing team must challenge the out-of-turn player before any further darts are thrown. Failure to challenge immediately will result in the score standing as written.

 

RULE #8 - CAPTAINS DUTIES, REPORTING RESULTS, PROTESTS PROCEDURES, PENALTY POINTS

SECTION I CAPTAIN"S DUTIES

Article 1: Each captain is responsible for the conduct of his/her team and the accuracy of the scorecard, and signing the same.

Article 2: Captains are responsible for turning in or seeing that their team members' dues and team fees are paid.

Article 3: Captains shall be responsible for their team knowing any rule changes made during the season, or any information given out during E.S.D.L. meetings.

Article 4: All captains are required to attend Captains Meetings and E.S.D.L. general meetings.

Article 5: Captains are responsible for initiating any protest on behalf of their team or team members.

Article 6: Captains must immediately inform the league directors of any change in their team roster.

Article 7: Captains are responsible for indicating the use of substitutes on the official scorecard for the match in which a substitute was used.

Article 8: Each team captain has the obligation to maintain the level of competition established for their division at the beginning of the season. This applies to the use of substitutes and the addition of new members to the team.

Article 9: Each team captain is responsible for inspecting the board conditions and the distance of the hockey line and board height prior to the start of the match.

 

SECTION II REPORTING RESULTS

Article 1: Both captains shall verify the accuracy of the scorecard by signing it prior to submitting it to the E.S.D.L. drop point.

Article 2: The official scorecard shall be completed and turned in to a designated drop point.

Article 3: The official scorecard shall be used to calculate team and individual standings.

Article 4: It is the responsibility of the winning team captain to turn in the scorecard.

Article 5: The official scorecard once signed and dropped off is final and cannot be altered.

 

SECTION III PROTEST PROCEDURES

Article 1: Only team captains may file a protest.

Article 2: Protest may be initiated by telephone or by stating same on the comment section of the scorecard.

Article 3: Details must be submitted in writing to any E.S.D.L. officer or board member no later than five(5) days following the alleged infraction or the protest will be considered invalid. Upon receipt of the written protest, the E.S.D.L. Directors will appoint three available league members not directly involved in the protest, not in the same division or serving on the E.S.D.L. Board. Opposing captain is to be notified of the protest and allowed 5 days to submit his rebuttal. The committee, when in receipt of both protest and rebuttals shall meet within two weeks and rule on the protest. Their decision is to be final.

Article 4: A protest may be filed by any team captain whether it involves his/her team or another.

 

SECTION IV PENALTY POINTS

Article 1: A penalty will be imposed upon the winning team in the event a scorecard is delivered late. That penalty will be one point for every day that the scorecard is delivered late. The maximum number of penalty points to be deducted will be the number of points won in the match.

Article 2: One penalty point will be imposed on any team which is not represented at any announced captains meeting.

Article 3: A penalty point will be deducted from any team who uses a substitute and does not indicate such use on the scorecard.

 

RULE #9 - GAMBLING, POSTPONEMENTS, FORFEITURE, WITHDRAWAL

SECTION I GAMBLING

Article 1: Gambling is neither sanctioned nor authorized at any E.S.D.L. sponsored event.

 

SECTION II POSTPONEMENTS, RESCHEDULING

Article 1: In the event of necessity, postponements may be arranged by the team captain by contacting the opposing team captain at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled match. The match must be rescheduled and played at the original site at a mutually agreeable time, within ten(10) days. In the case of extenuating circumstances, such as a bar being closed or unable to host darts on a non-league night, accident, or "Act of God", both captains must arrange to play the match at a mutually agreeable site within ten (10) days.

Article 2: The team requesting the change must notify any E.S.D.L. Officer so they may officiate or furnish scorecards, or substitute written notification in place of an official scorecard.

 

SECTION III FORFEITURES

Article l: Forfeitures will not be tolerated. If, after the 15 minute grace period, any teams as described previously, is not present for a regularly scheduled match, and if no prior arrangements have been made for a postponement, then a forfeit will be initiated.

Article 2: If either team captain does not want the forfeit to stand, the captain- must contact the opposing captain and agree to reschedule the match within ten(10) days. If no agreement can be reached, the forfeit stands.

Article 3: If the forfeit stands, the forfeiting team receives no points and the opposing team will be awarded 2/3 of the total points available for the match and no MVP points shall be allowed.

Article 4: In the event that a team has a second forfeit initiated against it during a single season, regardless of the solutions/resolutions of the first, said team will be withdrawn from the league and all points will be adjusted in accordance with Article 3.

Article 5: If, upon examining the circumstances surrounding a forfeit, it is determined that a forfeiture was intentional, the team and/or individual members will be withdrawn from the present season and barred from any future participation in the E.S.D.L.

Article 6: A scorecard must be turned in to the E.S.D.L. Drop Point and must be signed by the captain of the team present at a match where a forfeit is initiated.

 

SECTION IV WITHDRAWAL

Article 1: A team may withdraw from its division after the E.S.D.L. has been notified in writing.

Article 2: If a team withdraws or is withdrawn from the league, all points played per that rotation round shall be considered null and void. All points the withdrawn team had won and lost will be considered null and void. All future scheduled matches shall be considered "byes". There will not be an effort to remove any MVP points, tons, etc. from the individual players.

 

RULE #10 - DIVISION STANDINGS, TIES AND PLAYOFFS, TOURNAMENTS, AWARDS

SECTION I DIVISION STANDINGS

Article 1: The team with the highest number of points at the end of a season is the division's winner. The team with the second highest number of points at the end of the season is the division's runner-up. All ties will be played off.

 

SECTION II TIES AND PLAYOFFS

Article l: The teams in contention for the league championship must be prepared to play off ties within five(5) days following-the last regularly scheduled match in their division.

Article 2: The format of the divisional tie play-offs shall be the same as the format for a regular league match.

Article 3: No postponements will be allowed.

Article 4: If three teams tie for first place in their division there will be a play-off. #1 will host #2, #2 will host #3, and #3 will host #1 on three consecutive nights. The team accumulating the most number of points will be determined the division winner. The team accumulating the second highest number of points will be determined the division runner-up.

Article 5: If four teams tie for first place in their division, there will be a play-off. Luck of the Draw #1 plays #2 and #3 plays 4. The two winning teams then play the following night, and the winner of that match will be determined the winner of the division and the losing team will be determined the division runner-up.

Article 6: If teams tie for division runner up there will be a play-off as outlined above in Articles-3,4, and 5, with the winner being determined the division runner-up.

Article 7: Play-offs must be completed one day before Champ of Champs. If none can be set, the President will set one.

 

SECTION III TOURNAMENTS

Article l: Fees, rules and procedures for all tournaments shall be decided by the E.S.D.L. Board or a committee appointed by them.

 

SECTION IV AWARDS

Article 1: Any registered member of a team will be eligible for team trophies and awards at the end of the season.

Article 2: An awards committee shall be appointed by the E.S.D.L. Board.

Article 3: Substitute members will be eligible for individual awards only.

Article 4: At the end of the season, individual awards will be presented.

Article 5: In the event that two or more darters are tied for any award, all shall receive the award.

 

SECTION V TON-80 AWARDS

Article 1: Any registered member of E.S.D.L. who throws their first Ton-80 in league play shall receive a Ton-80 Mug.

Article 2: All subsequent Ton-80's thrown during league play will entitle the player to purchase another Ton-80 Mug at league cost.

SECTION I POLICY CHANGES

Article 1: Policy changes, temporary rulings, and general information may be announced on the weekly standings sheet or a supplementary sheet. These policies will be considered to be in effect immediately. It is the responsibility of each league member to read these announcements.

 

SECTION II RULE CHANGES

Article I: These rules may be amended or revised for the purpose of clarity or fairness and members challenge at any E.S.D.L. meeting by 2/3 vote of the E.S.D.L. Board.
